How AI SEO Services Increased Organic Traffic by 200% for a SaaS Client

He Thought He was Losing Rank in the Search Engines When We Helped Him to Pivot

Client Industry: Cybersecurity

Executive Summary

An AI SEO case study that I’d like to highlight was one of our successful clients who built a cybersecurity company from the ground up in Denver. His model was to provide security solutions through the cloud on a monthly subscription basis. Customers could access different features like continuous updates and ongoing support through subscription-based access for protection.

The big challenge was how search engines like Google launched their AI Overview in May 2023 on a limited level, but fully rolled out in May 2024, and that began to steal away their hard-won traffic. Like for many businesses, traffic began to nosedive. This company had 53% of all their website traffic coming from organic search, so when the search algorithms started letting AI take over results, this dealt their company a catastrophic blow.

Their organic search visibility hit an all-time low, and traffic not only became stagnant, but it started to drop from an average of 7,000 organic monthly visits to 2,100 organic visits (a 70% decline). This company was desperate to find a solution, and they started paying heavily for paid ads. The problem was that this strategy had limited growth, and it would stop as soon as the spending stopped. Not to mention, it began to cut into their profits more than they wanted.

They had to find a more sustainable solution—and fast! This was when this cybersecurity company came to us seeking answers. What we told them was how the search engines were now changing how search had been done before.

The truth was AI had begun to take over 60% of traffic on informational queries, especially. Few users were clicking through to the websites, and if you didn’t know how to pivot at this crucial moment, it could be devastating to your business.

This was when we offered them a new solution called AI SEO services. These services are relatively new because AI SEO is a new thing, but when we began to implement changes more friendly to the AI SEO, such as direct answers, bulleted lists, FAQ sections, and numbered lists.

The goal of doing this was slightly different from traditional SEO. Instead of simply bringing in organic traffic from the search, we wanted to increase visibility through answer engine optimization (AEO).

When we started to implement AI SEO services for this client, the results happened quickly. One of the great things about AEO is that compared to traditional SEO, AEO can often cite answers on your website within 24 to 48 hours, but the results play out over 10 to 60 days.

The full results may take up to 4 months to see the full potential, but toward the end of 4 months, our client had increased their organic traffic by 200%, reversing a troubling downward trend.

Client Background

This client ran a company in cybersecurity offering cybersecurity solutions through the cloud. Their target market was retail and eCommerce businesses in Denver.

Due to changes with the search engines now adopting things like AI Overview, this client was experiencing a significant drop in organic traffic. They lost 70% of their traffic when AI began to take over the search engines. Their volume, as shown below, dropped from 7,000 monthly visits to 2,100. That’s a 70% decrease in organic traffic, which was a massive hit to their business.

Importance of Organic Search to Their Business Model: Organic search for them was a cost-effective and sustainable source of quality leads for their business. They found this more cost-effective than paid ads.

The Challenge

The client, like many other businesses that were depending on traditional SEO, were facing serious organic traffic losses. With the loss of their traffic went a portion of their revenue and quality leads generated from the search engine rankings to bring in more revenue.

Along with the drop in search rankings, strong competition was making things worse. Denver has a robust tech sector, and in 2025, there are over 1,500 startups here. However, all this was adding to the competition, and it was making it much harder for our client to compete with the loss of their search engine rankings.

When they started losing search results, they would pay for paid ads as a result to drive leads to their business. To put into perspective their pain, the cost-per-click (CPC) is $30 for general terms in cybersecurity all the way up to $100 for a specific service. Cloud security like the one our client ran is also one of those terms that tends to have a higher CPC.

Getting clients with a PPC campaign wasn’t cheap, and you needed a significant budget to do it well. The following things were facts about our client and his industry:

The AI SEO Strategy

When our client contacted us, they were in a desperate situation. They needed something to work and fast. They had heard of AI SEO services and thought to try our Premium package. This was the comprehensive, full package designed to get them more visible with the AI search results.

One of the first things that we did for them was to perform AI-driven competitor gap analysis, keyword clustering, and content audits. This allowed us to tap into opportunities that their competitors had missed but helped them to grow in search visibility and brand presence.

With the new AI SEO, one of your goals is to grow your visibility because it helps customers to see you as an authority. We also pinpointed different performance issues with the content. With the content audit, we identified pieces of content that could perform well as marketing materials.

We also looked at content that was underperforming and what we could do to bring up the numbers.

One of the things with the AI SEO strategy for content was making sure that the content directly answered the question to increase its chances of getting cited in the AI search engines. We also made some schema markup recommendations, which are critical for AI-driven SEO.

During all this time, we also look at the site health for different things like keeping the technical things in check for the website. This process is continual because you need to constantly adapt to the AI search engine algorithms to maintain your online visibility.

Implementation Timeline

When we first undertook this AI SEO project for our client, it looked something like this:

AI SEO Services

The Results

In this AI SEO case study, after this client used our AI SEO services, their organic traffic recovered from its losses and grew from its original baseline of 7,000 monthly visits to 14,000 monthly visits. That’s a 200% increase in traffic for this SaaS client using AI SEO. This culminated over a period of 4 months, but our client reported seeing results in as little as 2 weeks. Already, they began to see a reverse in their traffic losses.

They also increased their inbound leads, doubling their leads, and the advantage of taking in traffic from AI is that it tends to have a higher conversion rate. The traffic that they received were more interested in their cybersecurity services.

They also started to see more profits because they didn’t need to rely as much on paid ads. As a result, their CAC began to lower, and they saw a higher ROI.

Key Takeaways

  • If traditional SEO is no longer yielding the results you crave, try AI SEO to see if it can’t accelerate your results.
